Alassane Ouattara has not abandoned its plans to organize a visit of Pope Francis in Ivory Coast before the end of his second five-year term.

The case was assigned to Cardinal Jean-Pierre Kutwa, Archbishop of Abidjan and great friend of the Ivorian president. During the week of June 27 to July 2, Cardinal and two emissaries, Anne Ouloto, Minister for Urban Safety, and Jeanne Peuhmond, Special Advisor to the presidency, visited the Vatican to revive the issue. Already, in 2012, Ouattara had written to the Pope to invite him to his country.
